Assembling a 6′ x 6′ Stage Stand

Tools Needed:

  • Hacksaw
  • Sharpie Marker

Materials for the Stage Stand**:

  • 4 – 1″ x 10′ PVC Pipe
  • 2 – 1″ 90 Degree Elbow Joints
  • 4 – 1″ Tee Joints

**For two stands just double the quantity of the materials.

Costs for Stage Stand Materials

Costs for everything is around $15 from your local hardware store

Cut PVC Pipe to the Following Lengths:

  • 2 – 6’2″ (74″) * Top and Bottom
  • 2 – 5’7.5″ (67.5″) * Sides
  • 2 – 7″
  • 4 – 12″

**For different size banners, add 2″ to your banner’s width for the top and bottom poles, and subtract 4.5″ from the banner’s height for the vertical poles; this is to accommodate for elbow and tee joints. These dimensions may be slightly different for you depending on your materials.

Assembly Process for the Stage Stand:

  1. Assemble feet first, followed by attaching the side poles (67.5″ Lengths) to the feet.
  2. Slide the top and bottom poles (74″ Lengths) through the pole pockets on your stage scrim and then attach to the sides.

Stage Stands Outdoors:

For outdoor uses, we recommend placing sand bags or some sort of weight at the bottom of the feet for added stability.

70-30 Vinyl Mesh

70/30 Vinyl Mesh – Close Up Shot

We make acoustically transparent banners which minimize the loss of sound quality because they are printed on mesh which allows the sound to pass through. The most common mesh we print on is 70/30. This means it is 70 percent fabric and 30 percent open. Most bands find this works well since it offers premium sound quality, minimal blow-back and maintains the integrity of the art.

Aetiology Band in Front of their Cool New Backdrop

Aetiology is a psychedelic groove rock band from Chicago who recently received a big surprise in the form of a stage backdrop from NorthCoast Banners.

The band’s designer and illustrator Chris Renguso set the ball rolling and, after receiving his order, dropped in unexpectedly as the band was setting up for a gig. Band members Scott Flesch, Michael Brandt and Chris Ditton were all shocked to discover a 6′ x 8′ backdrop folded up inside the small, flat box their designer handed them. They were thrilled when they opened up the package and even more excited to play in front of the new backdrop. “They opened it up and their jaws dropped in joy,” said Renguso. “It was magical.”

The banner was printed on dye-sublimated poplin and easily supported with a PVC backdrop stand. This makes the banner simple to set up at almost any location.
